Thirty S&P 500 stocks hit new lows as the index rose 1.49%
The Nasdaq Composite gained 2.26 percent to 27,122.09, its first record close since June 2, 2026, Reuters reported.
Advanced Micro Devices rose about 10 percent to reach a market capitalisation of US$1tn for the first time, Intel surged 12.2 percent and the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.71 percent to 52,048.83.
Canada’s main stock index rose 202.75 points, or 0.57 percent, to 36,009.40, led by technology and financial stocks, Reuters reported.
The technology index rose 2.96 percent and the financials index, which houses the country’s biggest banks and insurers, gained 1.4 percent.
Shopify, Canada’s third largest company, rose 7.8 percent and BlackBerry gained 7 percent.
