Plus500 to Buy Hedge Capital Markets for US Super-App
Plus500 has conditionally agreed to buy Hedge Capital Markets Inc., a US broker-dealer, to bring US securities into its planned US “super-app”. A broker-dealer is a firm that buys and sells securities for clients, and a super-app puts several financial products in one app. The company announced the deal today via the London Stock Exchange and expects to launch the app in the first quarter of 2027.
Plus500 is listed in London (PLUS) and is a FTSE 250 member. Hedge’s broker-dealer is registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the US securities regulator, and is a member of the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), the industry’s self-regulatory body. Hedge was founded in 2021 by Kyle Al-Rawi and Yash Khandelwal and offers US retail investors exchange-listed securities, including stocks and exchange-traded funds (ETFs). It is also a member of the Securities Investor Protection Corporation (SIPC), the US investor-protection scheme.
A first step into US securities
Plus500’s US business is regulated by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) and provides clearing and execution for futures and prediction markets, contracts that pay out on event outcomes, to retail and institutional clients. The company calls it substantial and fast-growing. It is built on the group’s CFTC-regulated US acquisition in 2021.
David Zruia, chief executive of Plus500, said:
“The Hedge acquisition marks a pivotal step in Plus500’s US journey. It strengthens the scaled, CFTC-regulated business we have built and provides, for the first time, direct access to the US securities market, the world’s largest retail investment market.”
The deal therefore gives Plus500 an SEC-regulated securities business to build the super-app on. The app will combine futures, prediction markets, stocks, options, ETFs and other SEC-regulated products.
Conditions and what is undisclosed
Plus500 will fund the purchase entirely from existing cash. Group cash resources were over $860m at 30 June 2026. Closing depends on expiry of a notice period and FINRA approval under Rule 1017, the rule governing FINRA sign-off on changes in a member firm’s ownership.
The announcement did not disclose the consideration, the expected completion date, Hedge’s financials or the financial impact on Plus500.
Plus500 will open a New York hub alongside its Chicago operations, and Hedge personnel will join the New York team. The company plans to extend the app to further geographies later.
For operators, the implication is a listed CFD and futures broker building a one-app US offering across futures, prediction markets, stocks, options and ETFs. Rivals selling only some of these products in the US will face a competitor with all of them under one licence base.
