IG Prime: Investec white label in South Africa

IG Prime has named Investec Prime Services, a business unit of Investec Bank Limited, as a partner for its institutional white-label platform in South Africa. A white label is a platform one firm builds and another sells under its own brand. IG Prime announced the deal on Friday. It did not disclose financial terms, client numbers, a go-live date or whether the arrangement is exclusive.

IG supplies the technology and Investec Prime Services supplies the brand. Clients get access to IG’s multi-asset global platform under the Investec Prime Services name. It covers derivatives, contracts whose value tracks an underlying asset, across equities, indices, foreign exchange, commodities and fixed income. IG puts the total at around 19,000 instruments globally, including 12,000 equities.

The platform is fully integrated with IG’s low-latency execution infrastructure, meaning fast order routing. It offers 24/5 access to selected equity markets, plus weekend index and foreign exchange markets. Trading, analytics and risk management are fully branded front-to-back and are delivered via desktop, mobile and proprietary execution systems.

The deal gives IG a route into South Africa after it left the local commercial market. IG’s full-year results for 2025, published on 19 March 2026, said it exited commercial operations in South Africa in 2025 to prioritise larger, faster-growing markets. IG closed its rand-denominated retail accounts in mid-2025. On 27 May 2025 it said new positions would stop and existing clients had until 28 July 2025 to close.

Investec Prime Services offers execution, custody, clearing and securities lending to hedge funds, corporates and other institutions. Prime services is the bundle of execution, custody and financing that hedge funds buy from banks.
