Eye on POS: Kwik Fill Picks PAR; TNS Eyes Unattended Payments with UCP – Digital Transactions

Convenience-store chain Kwik Fill, with more than 300 locations in New York, Pennsylvania, and Ohio, will use PAR Technology Corp.’s PAR Retail service for payments, loyalty, and a mobile app. In related news, Transaction Network Services Inc., or TNS, says a new partnership with Unattended Card Payments will boost its market for unattended payments.

Kwik Fill, one of the retail divisions of United Refining Co. of Warren, Pa., says the ability to have a unified platform to track payments, loyalty activity, and sales data made the move to PAR a good one. A significant piece of that ability is PAR Intelligence. This utility helps retailers interact with their data and more easily become aware of opportunities to engage with customers and improve their marketing, merchandising, and operations, PAR says.

New Hartford, N.Y.-based PAR said Kwik Fill also will use its services for better transaction-data insights. “They’re building their loyalty program from scratch on PAR Retail, which means every guest relationship and every data point is theirs from day one,” Savneet Singh, PAR Tech chief executive, says in a statement. United Refining also operates its own refining operation using only North America-sourced oil.

Also in point-of-sale news, TNS says its new agreement with Las Vegas-based Unattended Card Payments will help it expand further into unattended payments. UCP specializes in EMV-compliant hardware and gateway services.

UCP now is able to offer its clients access to TNS’s unattended payments orchestration service. Some clients might be found in the parking, electric vehicle charging, ticketing, vending, car wash, and laundry businesses, TNS says.

In August, TNS updated its orchestration platform to be compatible with the most recent Android-based POS terminals for unattended payments. TNS said then it was working on certifications in Australia, the United Kingdom, and the United States, with others to come.
