Marex Appoints Robert Cheeseman as Head of Prime Services Asia | LeapRate
Marex Group (NASDAQ: MRX) has appointed Robert Cheeseman as Head of Prime Services Asia, the company confirmed. Based in Hong Kong, Cheeseman will lead Marex’s prime brokerage and outsourced trading operations across the region.
Cheeseman brings more than 25 years of institutional experience spanning listed derivatives, prime services and electronic trading, with a strong track record across Asia-Pacific markets. He joins Marex from Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing (HKEX), where he served as Managing Director and Co-Head of Client Development.
Before that, he spent nearly four years at Credit Suisse as Managing Director and Head of APAC Prime Derivatives Services, overseeing trading teams in Hong Kong, Singapore, Tokyo and Mumbai. Earlier in his career, he held the role of Head of APAC Cross-Asset Listed Derivatives Execution at Morgan Stanley and spent almost a decade at Goldman Sachs, first in cash equity electronic trading in London before moving to Hong Kong to work in listed derivatives sales and trading.
In his new role, Cheeseman will focus on supporting hedge funds, asset managers, family offices and institutional clients across Asia, helping them access the infrastructure needed to launch and scale their businesses. He will work alongside Marex’s global and regional co-heads to shape the Prime Services division’s broader growth strategy.
Jack Seibald, Global Co-Head of Prime Services at Marex, said Asia represents an important growth market for the firm, and that Cheeseman’s appointment strengthens its ability to expand its presence and deepen client relationships in the region.
