Questbank appoints Bekim Merdita as Head of Sales & Marketing to lead next chapter of growth

Questbank has appointed mortgage industry veteran Bekim Merdita as Head of Sales & Marketing, ensuring the 50-year broker-focused legacy of its subsidiary, Community Trust, continues to thrive.

Merdita brings a distinguished track record of leadership, operational excellence, and sales innovation across North America’s mortgage landscape. His appointment signals a bold reinforcement that one of Canada’s newest licensed banks is ready to walk hand-in-hand with brokers to be better together delivering personal service, flexibility, transparency and constantly striving to improve reliability and servicing across the alternative and traditional lending space.

Merdita’s career in mortgage banking spans over a decade across the U.S. and Canadian markets. Starting his journey in the direct-to-consumer channel and then transitioning into the Canadian market as Executive Vice President at Rocket Mortgage Canada (launched initially as Edison Financial), Merdita helped the startup scale from an eight-person group into a powerhouse team of over 150 staff members, originating over $2 billion in Canadian mortgages.

For the past year, Merdita has been an integral part of the Questrade Financial Group (QFG) family, building out the strategy and operational foundation for Questrade Mortgage Corporation. In his new role as Head of Sales & Marketing for Questbank, Merdita remains within the QFG family but changes hats returning directly to the frontlines to serve mortgage brokers and industry partners.

Throughout his career, Merdita has maintained a simple, people-first philosophy: technology and data are essential tools, but relationship-building, trust, and frontline support are what move the industry forward. When asked how those core elements will show up in his new role, Merdita said, “We’re going to build in the light with our partners along for the entire ride. There will be a day soon when we can all look at what Questbank is and say ‘we all played a part in building it.’”

Building on a 50-year legacy of broker partnerships

While the Questbank name reflects a modern era of digital financial services, its roots run deep. For over 50 years, its subsidiary, Community Trust, built a reputation as a trusted partner for mortgage brokers nationwide.

Under the Questbank banner, that core mandate remains unchanged: providing lending solutions to deserving Canadians who value homeownership for their families.

In his dual role, Merdita will spearhead Questbank’s go-to-market strategy to accelerate regional expansion while optimizing sales performance and fulfillment. By unifying marketing initiatives with broker support, he will ensure faster decisions, stronger brand awareness, and enhanced transparency across every deal.

Earning broker trust in an evolving market

In today’s competitive landscape, earning and maintaining broker trust requires more than fast turnaround times; it demands consistent execution, transparent communication, and dedicated support.

Under Merdita’s leadership, Questbank’s sales team will emphasize proactive engagement, ensuring business development managers (BDMs) act as true partners to brokerages across Canada.

“The biggest thing we at Questbank need to accomplish right now is earning the trust of brokers everywhere,” says Bekim Merdita. “With the recent entrance of our mortgage products into Quebec, we’re truly a nationwide bank and our product shelf supports a wide array of consumers. By working with valued partners, the opportunity for a positive impact on the people and communities we serve is enormous, and I’m excited to lead that.”
