Bank of Canada sets 2027 interest rate announcement dates

The Bank of Canada has released its schedule for policy interest rate announcements in 2027.

The first decision will take place on January 27, followed by announcements in March, April, June, July, September, October and December. All rate announcements will be released at 9:45 a.m. ET.

The Bank’s quarterly Monetary Policy Report, which includes updated forecasts for economic growth and inflation, will be published alongside the January, April, July and October decisions.

The Bank also reconfirmed its remaining rate announcement dates for 2026: September 2, October 28 and December 9. The October decision will include the year’s final Monetary Policy Report.

The Bank has held its policy rate at 2.25% at all five of its decisions so far this year. Its last rate move came in October 2025, when it lowered the policy rate by 25 basis points.

Changes to the policy rate generally flow through to lenders’ prime rates, affecting borrowing costs for variable-rate mortgages and lines of credit, including home equity lines of credit.
