Why Canadian mortgage brokers should not miss the CMAs
For brokers who are earlier in their careers, attendance carries a different kind of value: the ability to benchmark directly against those who have already been recognised as the country’s best, to understand what distinguishes the work of a CMA winner from the field, and to begin building the relationships that determine where referrals and opportunities flow in the years ahead.
A process built for credibility
One reason the CMAs have maintained their standing for 20 years is the integrity of the selection and judging process.
Nominations, which are open to all mortgage professionals and organisations from across Canada — including brokers, brokerages, lenders, BDMs, underwriters, agents, and service providers — are accepted from June 8 to August 14.
The CMA team then conducts independent research to supplement nominations, drawing on knowledge gathered through CMP, to ensure that deserving candidates are not overlooked because they did not self-nominate.
Excellence awardees — the shortlist — are announced in September, with judging conducted by an independent panel of mortgage and finance industry leaders in October and November 2026. Any judge with a conflict of interest in a category recuses themselves.
