55ip Expands UMA Lineup with JPMorgan, BlackRock Models
Fintech 55ip, a subsidiary of J.P. Morgan Asset Management, expanded capabilities for the RIA channel, with its managed and custom model portfolios and equity SMAs now available in a UMA.
55ip currently offers model portfolios and SMAs from J.P. Morgan Asset Management and alternative asset manager BlackRock. The firm expects additional asset managers to join the line-up later this year.
The 55ip Portal will provide holistic portfolio management for the full target UMA model, while its ActiveTax technology will continue to provide recommendations for tax transitions and ongoing account management.
Previously, 55ip provided tax-managed UMA capabilities to select enterprise partners.
“The rapid growth in the RIA channel highlights the issue of scale for advisors,” 55ip CEO Gautam Sachdev said in a statement. “Navigating the complexity of acquiring new clients, while contending with infrastructure challenges can be alleviated with the addition of a UMA to an advisor’s practice. We are excited to collaborate with two leading asset managers to meet the needs of a broader range of clients.”
Fintechs serving the RIA channel increasingly prioritize providing UMA capabilities, as managed account use has grown in the double digits in recent years. In the five years ending in 2024, UMAs grew at an annual compounded growth rate of 18.4%, according to research firm Cerulli Associates, totaling close to $260 billion in net flows.
This July, SUBSCRIBE announced a partnership with Envestnet to allow its advisor clients to incorporate their alternative investments through the latter’s UMA. Alternative investment platform CAIS struck a similar partnership with Vestmark last year.
