Plus500 on track for 2026 as IG warns on revenue

Plus500 said today that it continues to trade in line with current market expectations for its 2026 financial year, on the morning IG Group Holdings plc cut its revenue outlook. The Regulatory News Service (RNS) announcement came at 10.02am and gave no revenue, earnings, customer or numeric guidance figures. It did not mention IG.

IG, a London-listed broker of contracts for difference (CFDs, leveraged contracts tracking an asset’s price), published its third-quarter trading update, a short statement between full results, at 7am. Total revenue was about £240m against £280.1m a year earlier, down about 14%, and IG now expects 2026 revenue growth in the mid-single-digit per cent.

The cause was over-the-counter (OTC) revenue retention, the share of client trading results IG keeps after hedging. It fell to about 70%, from an average of about 80% since IG’s market-making optimisation measures in the second half of 2025. Customer growth stayed strong: first trades rose by over 25% and active customers by around 17%.

Growth in first trades and active customers remained strong in Q3 2026. Lower Q3 revenue reflected reduced OTC revenue retention in less supportive market conditions, and I remain confident in meeting our medium-term guidance.

Breon Corcoran, Chief Executive Officer, IG

IG shares were down 22.0% at 997.5p by 12.19pm, from 1,279p at yesterday’s close. Plus500 shares stood at 3,294p at about 12.18pm, down 3.57% from 3,416p, on a delayed quote. The two moves share a morning, and nothing more is established between them.

Plus500, an Israel-headquartered CFD broker and member of the FTSE 250 index, listed in London since 24 July 2013, also said it maintains a strong cash position, as communicated on 10 August. It pointed to a risk management framework that has been through various market cycles. Its full third-quarter update follows later in October, as planned.

Plus500 has therefore given operators and investors an assurance without a number, and no retention figure. IG will add third-quarter detail and a strategy update on the 22nd of October.
