CNG Price Hike From August 29: IGL Raises Delhi CNG Rate by Rs 3.89/kg; Check New Prices Across Cities

CNG users in Delhi will have to pay more from Saturday, August 29, after Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL) increased the retail price of compressed natural gas by Rs 3.89 per kg. The revised rate in the National Capital Territory is now Rs 86.98 per kg, compared with Rs 83.09 per kg earlier.

The increase will raise fuel costs for CNG car owners as well as autorickshaw drivers, taxi operators, app-based cab services and commercial fleets. IGL has attributed the revision to a sharp rise in the cost of imported liquefied natural gas (LNG), which is increasingly being used to meet demand in the CNG segment.

Delhi CNG Price Today: Check Revised Rates Across IGL Cities

The revised CNG prices vary across markets served by IGL. In Noida, Greater Noida and Gautam Buddh Nagar, CNG will cost Rs 95.59 per kg, while the rate in Ghaziabad is also Rs 95.59 per kg.

CNG Prices in Gurugram, Noida & Other Cities

CNG is priced at Rs 92.01 per kg in Gurugram, Rs 91.59 per kg in Rewari and Rs 91.32 per kg in Karnal. Consumers in Kanpur, Hamirpur and Fatehpur will pay Rs 98.31 per kg, while the revised rate for Ajmer, Pali and Rajsamand is Rs 96.33 per kg.

In other IGL markets, the CNG rate stands at Rs 95.47 per kg in Muzaffarnagar, Meerut and Shamli. The price is Rs 92.32 per kg in Kaithal, Rs 93.31 per kg in Mahoba, Banda and Chitrakoot, and Rs 96.59 per kg in Hapur.

IGL said the price revision was necessary because international LNG costs have risen significantly. The company pointed to elevated spot LNG prices, higher demand and increased dependence on imported spot cargoes for supplying the CNG segment.

According to IGL, the Asia JKM LNG benchmark climbed from around $10.99 per MMBTU to $23.41 per MMBTU, an increase of nearly 113%. Europe’s TTF benchmark also rose from approximately $11.36 per MMBTU to $23.35 per MMBTU, representing an increase of about 105%.

The company also cited renewed West Asia tensions, potential disruptions to LNG shipments through the Strait of Hormuz and Europe’s efforts to build gas inventories ahead of winter as factors contributing to higher global gas prices.

For Delhi-NCR consumers, the immediate impact will therefore be felt primarily by motorists and commercial transport operators. Future CNG price movements will depend on international LNG prices, supply availability, geopolitical developments and the requirement for imported gas to meet domestic demand.
