UPI completes 10 years as transaction volume jumps nearly 13,000-fold | Finance News


India’s Unified Payments Interface (UPI) has completed 10 years, emerging as the world’s largest real-time payment system. Annual UPI transaction volumes have surged from 1.78 crore in FY17 to more than 24,162 crore in FY26, an almost 13,000-fold increase.

 


Transaction value has also risen sharply, from ₹0.07 lakh crore in FY17 to around ₹314 lakh crore in FY26, marking nearly a 4,000-fold increase. UPI is currently operational in 11 countries.
