Day in the Life of… Evie Beaumont, IFA at Lincolnshire Independent Financial Advisers – Mortgage Strategy

My alarm goes off at…
…6.15am.
My typical day entails…
…an hour’s walk with the dogs to start my day. Then I head into the office, just a short walk from my house.
I am in the office by 9.30am and then check and respond to emails. The day can be anything from two to three client meetings to completing applications, affordability assessments and recommendation reports.
The variation in my role is what keeps it so interesting
My role varies between mortgages and pensions and investments, but I spend a lot of time speaking with clients, lenders, providers and business development managers.
I usually leave the office by 5.30pm. After being sat at my desk for most of the day, I like to go for another walk with the dogs and I often listen to a podcast at the same time.
I wanted to work in the mortgage industry because…
…I enjoy being able to help people at a time that can be very stressful for them.
This is an ever-changing industry and I really enjoy the challenge of learning new skills or technical expertise
One of the most fulfilling parts of the job is helping someone buy their dream home when they didn’t think it would be possible.
Something that has surprised me about my job is…
…how varied it can be, from client situations to lender criteria and product availability.
I had no idea about the amounts and types of solutions that would be available, and this is constantly changing and evolving, allowing me to help more clients.
A misconception about my role is…
…that I can help only with the mortgage application and not all of the pre- and post-application work that goes with it to ensure that the process is as smooth as possible for clients.
That client was truly so grateful that it inspired me to help more people in a similar position
There is so much that goes into being accepted for a mortgage. Clients are often unaware of what they need to do in the years and months before they even think about applying. I can give them guidance on it all, and ensure they are both appropriately informed once the mortgage is in place and protected for the future.
A perk of the job is…
…being able to build relationships with so many people and to gain experience in a lot of areas. This relates to both clients and professionals, which helps me to build on my experience and expand my knowledge.
This is an ever-changing industry and I really enjoy the challenge of learning new skills or technical expertise. The variation in my role is what keeps it so interesting and I look forward to spending many more years with this career.
I enjoy being able to help people at a time that can be very stressful for them
My favourite work memory is…
…receiving a thank you letter from a client who was ecstatic that I had been able to organise a mortgage for them.
It was pretty tricky with their circumstances and the property they wished to purchase, but we managed it. They were truly so grateful that it inspired me to help more people in a similar position.
To unwind after work, I…
…usually like to reset by heading out for a walk with my dogs.
It gives me a chance to clear my head and get some fresh air. I often put on a podcast while I’m out — sometimes something work related if I’m in the mood to stay productive, but more often it’s light-hearted like a comedy or celebrity podcast that helps me properly unwind.

I enjoy spending my evenings on things that feel creative or social. Cooking is something I find really relaxing, so I like to try out new recipes and experiment in the kitchen, whether for myself or when I’m spending time with friends.
Reading is another way I like to slow things down. It helps me switch off from screens and get lost in something different.
I also have a soft spot for a good, slightly cheesy boxset and can easily spend a few hours getting absorbed in one. Right now I’m enjoying documentaries, which I find both entertaining and interesting. This is definitely one of my favourite ways to relax in the evenings.
Evie was chosen to join the MS Next Gen cohort for 2026.
