Euronext Names NN Group’s Knibbe as CEO Pick
Euronext’s Supervisory Board intends to nominate David Knibbe, chief executive of insurer NN Group, to succeed Stéphane Boujnah as CEO and Chairman of the Managing Board. The Supervisory Board is the body that oversees management, while the Managing Board runs the group day to day. Euronext said in a statement, according to FX News Group, that the nomination goes to its annual general meeting (AGM), the yearly shareholder vote, on 20 May 2027.
Euronext N.V. operates markets in Amsterdam, Brussels, Dublin, Lisbon, Milan, Oslo and Paris, plus clearing and settlement. Knibbe, who is based in Paris, has been CEO of NN Group N.V. since 2019. NN Group is a Dutch insurer and asset manager listed on Euronext Amsterdam.
The nomination follows Boujnah’s decision to step down in May 2027 and a selection process that considered several candidates. Boujnah has led Euronext since 2015.
The appointment is conditional. It needs approval from the relevant National Competent Authorities, the national regulators that supervise Euronext’s markets, and from the Dutch Minister of Finance. It then goes to shareholders at the AGM on 20 May 2027.
Piero Novelli, Chairman of the Euronext Supervisory Board, said the board had chosen a chief executive from another regulated industry, and presented the choice as a continuation of the group’s strategy.
Following a thorough and diligent process, we are pleased to announce the selection of David Knibbe as the next CEO of Euronext. As the experienced, long-serving CEO of NN Group N.V., listed on Euronext, David Knibbe brings a consistent track record of value creation in another highly regulated industry. His experience in successful integrations and technology transformation will be highly valuable as Euronext continues to execute its strategy and invests in future growth.
Piero Novelli, Chairman of the Euronext Supervisory Board
Novelli added that Knibbe would drive Euronext’s strategic roadmap, building on the growth and transformation delivered under Boujnah’s leadership over the past decade.
A Euronext spokesperson declined to comment, citing a quiet period before third-quarter results.
NN Group said in a separate statement that Tjeerd Bosklopper becomes CEO-designate, the executive named ahead of the handover, on 1 March 2027. He succeeds Knibbe after NN’s own AGM on 12 May 2027.
The dates to note are 12 May 2027 for NN’s handover and 20 May 2027 for the Euronext vote.
