Vista Hospitality’s JFK DoubleTree By Hilton Hits Market
The DoubleTree by Hilton just outside John F. Kennedy International Airport is seeking a buyer.
Vista Hospitality has put the 385-key hotel at 135-30 140th Street in Jamaica up for sale, The Real Deal has learned. The Canadian real estate investment company is eyeing a price between $75 million and $80 million for the property, which has 5,600 square feet of meeting space.
The 12-story hotel was built in the 1950s and renovated multiple times over the years, most recently in 2024. Eastdil Secured Savills is marketing the property.
Vista refinanced the hotel in April with a $36.5 million loan from Webster Bank. The firm, founded by brothers Amin and Ally Visram, acquired the hotel in 2008 and it has since undergone several brand transitions — from a DoubleTree to a Radisson, and back to a DoubleTree.
The owners chucked their affiliation with DoubleTree in 2013 in favor of an alliance with Radisson after partially settling a lawsuit alleging Hilton conspired with its parent company, the Blackstone Group, and a lender to terminate their franchise agreement and force a loan default. Vista sued Hilton, claiming the company was secretly working with Blackstone and an affiliated lender to end the franchise deal and foreclose on a $35 million mortgage on the property.
Hilton argued that the default was legitimate based on the hotel’s failure to meet brand standards, including allegedly charging guests the wrong room rate and levying fees for Internet service that guests didn’t order.
Vista owns and operates hotels, shopping malls, retirement homes and office buildings in Canada and the Eastern U.S.
The firm did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Eastdil Secured Savills declined to comment.
