How long have you worked in financial services and what was your first job?

Just under 10 years. My first job was a senior personal banker at Royal Bank of Scotland/NatWest.

What made you consider the sector as a career?

I was drawn to financial services because of the opportunities to build a career, and it offers the chance to make a difference in people’s lives. Money and financial decisions play such an important role in our futures, and I wanted to be part of an industry where I could help people achieve their goals, build confidence and create opportunities for themselves.

How do you try to do good for your community through your work?

I believe doing good starts with being approachable, building trust and helping people feel informed and empowered when making financial decisions. Since starting in the industry in 2017, I’ve recognised how important it is to make financial services feel accessible and to ensure people feel heard and supported.

And what about in your personal life?

Personally, I try to give back by being supportive, sharing my experiences and encouraging others to recognise their potential. Whether it’s offering advice, opening doors or simply being there for someone. I believe small acts of kindness and encouragement can make a lasting difference.

What does community mean to you both within and outside of the Black community?

To me, community is about belonging, support and shared experiences. Within the Black community, it means celebrating our achievements, recognising our history, supporting one another and creating opportunities for future generations. Beyond the Black community, it means embracing diversity, learning from different perspectives and building an environment where everyone feels valued, respected and included.

Who inspires you on a personal and professional level?

On a personal level, I’m inspired by my family and friends who demonstrate resilience, determination and the importance of staying true to yourself. Professionally, I’m inspired by people who lead with integrity, challenge barriers and use their positions to create opportunities for others. I have a lot of respect for those who succeed while remaining grounded and committed to helping others succeed too.

How do you hope to inspire others?

I hope to inspire others by showing that there is a place for them in financial services and that their background should never limit their ambitions. Representation matters, and I want to demonstrate that success is possible while encouraging others to believe in themselves, pursue opportunities and remember the importance of bringing others along with them.
