Ixigo shares rally 13% after travel platform reports all-time high profit

Ixigo shares rallied after the travel booking platform reported its highest ever quarterly profit, with strong growth in hotels, flights and buses helping offset a decline in adjusted earnings. The stock rose as much as 13% to ₹163.38 on the NSE.

Ixigo reported an all-time high profit after tax of ₹63.42 crore for the quarter ended September 30. The company said the figure was aided by the partial sale of its stake in Freshbus, making the record profit partly non-operational in nature.

Gross transaction value rose 22% from a year earlier to ₹5,304.47 crore, while revenue from operations increased 13% to ₹320.96 crore. Contribution margin grew 14% to ₹124.86 crore.

“In Q2 FY27, we delivered resilient growth with Quarterly GTV of ₹5,304 Crores, up 22% YoY, and Revenue from Operations of ₹321 Crores, up 13% YoY,” Group CEO Aloke Bajpai, Group Co-CEO Rajnish Kumar and Group CFO Saurabh Devendra Singh said in a joint statement.

“Our PAT was an all-time high aided by our partial sale of stake in Freshbus,” they said.

Hotels emerged as Ixigo’s fastest-growing business line, with gross transaction value more than doubling to ₹111.34 crore, up 159% from a year earlier. Revenue from the business increased 528% to ₹8.1 crore, while room nights booked rose 295% to more than 4.7 lakh during the quarter.
The company said hotels generated a gross take rate of more than 12%, with more than 86% of bookings coming from its own captive users. Its hotel inventory stood at more than 70,000 properties across India, including over 12,000 directly contracted properties across 1,100 towns.“From this quarter onwards, we are disclosing a new line of business of Hotels which grew GTV 2.6x YoY to ₹111 Crores with a gross take rate of more than 12%,” the management said.

Flight and bus bookings also remained key growth drivers, with GTV increasing 37% and 32%, respectively. The company expanded its distribution by powering train bookings on Uber, while food delivery through Zoop and Swiggy now covers more than 290 railway stations.

Despite the growth in revenue and transaction value, adjusted EBITDA declined 17% year-on-year to ₹23.58 crore from ₹28.48 crore. Profit before share of loss of an associate, exceptional items and tax stood at ₹33.53 crore.

The company said higher airfares and limited availability of confirmed train tickets continued to support demand for intercity buses. AbhiBus also launched a Women Zone booking option for solo women travellers.

“We continue to invest in Hotels and AI as key drivers of our long-term growth,” the management said.
