As per Ponmudi R, CEO of Enrich Money, commodity markets remained volatile during the week as escalating Middle East tensions, rising global bond yields, central-bank tightening and currency weakness shaped price movements. Crude oil surged amid attacks on shipping routes and concerns over supply disruptions, while gold and silver faced pressure early in the week before recovering as the dollar and Treasury yields eased. In India, the Reserve Bank of India raised interest rates to contain mounting inflationary pressures, but the rupee remained close to record lows.
The expert added higher yields and a firm dollar initially weighed on gold and silver, as the opportunity cost of holding non-yielding assets increased. However, easing yields and bargain buying supported a recovery in bullion late in the week. Gold rose around 1.3% for the week, recovering from a two-month low recorded earlier in the week. Silver also benefited from the late-week improvement, although further Federal Reserve tightening expectations remain a key risk for precious metals.
