The cockroaches are returning back to Jantar Mantar, and this time they demand the resignation of Election Commission chief Gyanesh Kumar. Abhijeet Dipke, Saurav Das, and Ashutosh Rankar are on the way to the national capital to lead the protest towards the Parliament. The Delhi police have said there is no permission for protest by imposing section 163. Amidst this, popular YouTuber Dhruv Rathee has made a wild card entry and is most likely to join the protest.
As per reports, more than 20,000 to 40,000 police personnel, including CRFP members, have been deployed in Delhi to tame the protest. Some cops have arrived from other states. Questions have been raised over the cops’ precautionary actions of detaining protestors mid-journey of their travel to Delhi from various parts of India.

Reports reveal at least hundreds of trains have been cancelled, while almost 57 metro trains in Delhi are shut. A latest report reveals that almost 600 citizens were detained across Delhi ahead of the Jantar Mantar. Bodycams and drones have also been deployed to monitor, tackle, and identify students.
The protest is in regard to allegations of “vote chori,” which came to light after an Indian Express investigation revealed that 2 out of 3 Election Commissioners complained about being in dark over various matters such as adding new votes and deleting names. Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi have raised formal objections to certain decisions at least 14 times over the last 10 months—four times on a single day—to decisions taken and orders issued without their knowledge. The report also claimed that both Sandhu and Joshi, who are equally important for decision-making, like Gyanesh Kumar, found certain orders being approved through media. Since June 2025, the ECI’s special intensive revision (SIR), which started in Bihar before reaching other states, witnessed the deletion of at least 13 crore names from the voters list in 30 states and union territories. The report also revealed that some names were deleted in several states of people who were genuine voters and had proper proof of documents. When the issue of genuine voters being deleted was raised by the local ECI authorities, those pleas were unattended.
Hence, all eyes are directed towards Gyanesh Kumar and his role in decision-making that allegedly left many voters off the voters list. The Supreme Court has currently suspended the plea of interim suspension of Gyanesh Kumar and has called for a response from ECI over the matter.
The public, however, feels cheated. Apart from CJP, oppositions have also carried their own sets of protest. Before October 10th, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi-led Congress party and its alliance along with its members and supporters, were all on the streets of Delhi bhavans protesting and demanding Gyanesh’s resignation for the past three days. Both Rahul and Priyanka were detained twice, and many Congress MPs also faced similar fate.
