UniCredit CVA RWAs double amid Commerzbank stake build-up

Bank cites strategic transactions as driver of the surge
UniCredit’s credit valuation adjustment risk-weighted assets (CVA RWAs) doubled in the second quarter of 2026, after the Italian lender launched a takeover offer for Commerzbank and continued to build its position through total return swaps.
The bank’s total CVA RWAs climbed by 101% quarter on quarter to €2.3 billion ($2.6 billion) – the highest level in nearly eight years.
