His responsibilities will include coordinating commercial work with client propositions, regulatory requirements and the firm’s long-term objectives.

Hepburne-Scott joins the leadership position from his role as managing director and head of the Southern Region, which he has held since 2023.

He began working at the firm’s London office in 1996 as an investment manager and has been with the business for 30 years.

Lucie Gordon, managing director for the Northern Region, will leave the firm at the end of December 2026. She joined RBC Brewin Dolphin in 2014 and took up her current position in 2023.

Rod Walley, Robin Mellows and Kevin Jennings will also assume wider responsibilities.

Walley will oversee the North, Mellows will cover Central, the South West and Wales, and Jennings will be responsible for London and the South East.

All three will become regional managing directors and continue to work with regional leads and heads of offices across the business’ network of more than 30 offices.

They will report to Nicholas Oliver, managing director and head of RBC Brewin Dolphin.

The changes come as RBC Wealth Management pursues expansion plans in the UK, Jersey and the Republic of Ireland.

The firm’s strategic hiring programme began at the start of this financial year.

It is focused on client-facing positions and is intended to bring in more than 70 experienced professionals by the end of 2027.

RBC Wealth Management managing director Hal Catherwood said: “William’s appointment is an important step in the continued evolution of our business and a clear signal of our ambition to drive sustainable, organic growth.

“The momentum behind our Strategic Hiring Programme also continues to build, with another group of talented advisers choosing to build their careers with RBC Wealth Management. Each of these new colleagues brings deep expertise and a genuine client focus, strengthening our ability to deliver advice-led wealth management.

“As Lucie prepares to retire at the end of this year, I’d also like to take the opportunity to thank her for her significant contribution over the past 12 years and wish her well for her retirement.”
