Gold rates and silver rates in India rallied sharply on Thursday, October 1, 2026, as crude oil prices fell sharply as crude shipments reached pre-Covid levels. In the early hours, MCX gold reclaimed Rs 1.50 lakh mark before pulling back slightly but trading on a positive note. Meanwhile, MCX silver reclaimed Rs 2.26 lakh and traded higher by 1%. This followed the strong buying trend in spot gold which gained by 1% to trade above $4,175 per ounce. Also, spot silver outperformed by 1.20% to trade around $61 per ounce.
On the other hand, both US WTI crude and Brent crude oil futures dropped by 1% to 1.5% to trade below $90 per barrel and $96 per barrel. As per the Trading Economics report, crude shipments from the region were nearing pre-war levels after Saudi Arabia restored half the capacity of its East-West pipeline, while flows through the Strait of Hormuz climbed to 13.2 million barrels per day. However, markets remain cautious about the durability of the recovery without a lasting agreement to end the Iran war, with both Tehran and Washington claiming full control over the strategic waterway.

Apart from this, there has been a sharp decline in the market’s prediction of rate hikes. The probability has now fallen to 38% in the October policy from earlier 51% and 70% odds. The latest US PCE price index rose 0.3% in August below street estimates of 0.4%, while core PCE increased 0.2% also below the estimate of 0.3%. The headline PCE inflation came in at 3.4% from below market estimates of 3.7%, calming investors’ concern of rate hikes.
In India, the gold demand will be stirred due to upcoming festivals like Navratri. Also, RBI’s October policy outcomes will impact precious metals.
