CAMLA brings alternative lending to Vancouver this October
Following a short break, the spotlight shifts to the broker community itself. From 10:30 a.m. to 11:45 a.m., a panel titled “Mortgage Broker Panel on Alternative Lending” will feature practitioners Tracy Le, Jason Humenick, Sasha Idema, and Rowan Smith, moderated by Arif Mulji.
The session, sponsored by the Canadian National Association of Real Estate Appraisers (CNAREA), is structured to surface on-the-ground perspectives from brokers who navigate the alternative and private lending space daily, a segment of the market that has grown steadily as conventional qualification requirements have tightened.
AI and the future of mortgage finance
The afternoon keynote, sponsored by First Canadian Title, is titled “Evolve: Evolving Finance in the Age of Agentic AI” and will be delivered by Jay Kiew from 2:15 p.m. to 3:15 p.m.
The session arrives as artificial intelligence moves from a discussion topic to an operational reality for mortgage professionals. AI is emerging as a gamechanger for the mortgage industry, with brokers urged to get on board as adoption accelerates across origination, underwriting, and client-facing workflows.
The midday break from 11:45 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. includes a luncheon and trade show, giving attendees time to connect with lenders and service providers.
