Second Vande Bharat Sleeper Train On Delhi-Varanasi Route Via Prayagraj, Kanpur; Check Timings, Fare, Coaches & All Expected Features

A new overnight rail option could soon emerge on the busy Delhi-Varanasi route, with Indian Railways considering a Vande Bharat Sleeper service connecting the two cities. The proposed train is expected to pass through Prayagraj and Kanpur, allowing passengers to travel overnight and reach their destination the following morning.

The service, however, is yet to receive a formal notification from the Railway Board. The reported route and timings are therefore tentative and could change before commercial operations begin.

Delhi-Varanasi Vande Bharat Sleeper: Expected Timings

According to the reports, the proposed train could leave Varanasi Cantt at 9:20 pm and travel towards Delhi overnight. It is expected to reach Prayagraj at around 10:45 pm and Kanpur Central at approximately 12:35 am, before arriving at New Delhi around 5 am. On the return journey, the train could depart from New Delhi at 9:20 pm and reach Varanasi at about 5 am the next morning.

The timings have not been officially finalised. The Railway Board could make changes depending on operational requirements, route capacity and other railway traffic considerations.

Vande Bharat Sleeper Train Coach Composition for Around 823 Passengers

The proposed sleeper service is expected to have 16 coaches and accommodation for approximately 823 passengers. The reported configuration comprises 11 AC 3-tier coaches, four AC 2-tier coaches and one First AC coach. The final composition will be known only after Indian Railways formally announces the train.

Vande Bharat Sleeper Could Run At Up To 160 Kmph

The proposed train could operate at speeds between 130 kmph and 160 kmph. Its actual speed on the Delhi-Varanasi corridor would depend on track conditions, signalling, route capacity and other operational factors.

Travel time could also vary depending on the number of stoppages and the final timetable. Before the train is introduced for regular passengers, trial runs and mandatory operational and safety checks will be required.

Facilities Available on Delhi-Varanasi Vande Bharat Sleeper Express (Expected)

As a sleeper version of the Vande Bharat platform, the proposed train is expected to be designed for comfortable overnight travel. The train could feature upgraded interiors, automatic doors, passenger information systems, improved acceleration and enhanced safety arrangements.

However, these features should not be considered final until Indian Railways confirms the specifications of the train proposed for the Delhi-Varanasi route.

When Will Delhi-Varanasi Vande Bharat Sleeper Start?

There is no confirmed commercial launch date for the proposed service yet. Indian Railways has also not officially announced the final fare, booking date, stoppages or operating timetable. For now, the reported Delhi-Varanasi sleeper service remains a proposed expansion of the Vande Bharat network. The final details will depend on the Railway Board’s notification and the completion of the required operational preparations.
