Chip and Joanna Gaines Finally Sell Their Famous $2.7 Million Historic Waco Castle
After spending nearly 20 years dreaming about renovating the historic Waco Castle, Chip and Joanna Gaines have completed the project and found a buyer for the breathtaking estate.
While a final sale price has not yet been confirmed, the HGTV stars listed the property for $2,699,000 in June 2026.
The castle was first available at auction in 2023, but it failed to sell, according to Mansion Global. The property was opened to the public for guided tours, during which visitors received details about the meticulously selected design details.
The couple documented the painstaking, yearslong renovation in their 2022 series, “Fixer Upper: The Castle.”
Built in 1890, the 6,176-square-foot manor had been neglected and abandoned when Chip and Joanna purchased it in 2019. While it was priced at $425,000, it’s unclear how much the couple paid for the home.
The duo worked to reinfuse character into the neglected building, carefully considering the style and era of the home.
“People love things that are nostalgic. They love things that are antique-looking, and I want this place to feel like it did in 1915,” Joanna said during an episode of “Fixer Upper.”
“Whether you walked into the space in 1915 or today, it has that same feeling of history and love and beauty and castle-ship,” she explained.
The finished product is a rare opportunity to own a piece of Magnolia history.
“All furnishings, accessories, and decor have been thoughtfully curated to complement the home’s design and are included with the purchase,” according to the castle’s listing, which was handled by Amanda Nesbitt of Magnolia Realty.
In December 2026, Joanna reflected on the design undertaking, noting it “taught us there’s great reward in restoring beauty in forgotten places. And that kind of work is always worth the wait.”
The project was near and dear to the Gaineses, but Joanna opened up about feeling ready to pass it along to a new owner, along with two additional high-profile renovations they’d been working on: the $1.7 million Hillcrest Estate and the $935,000 Gristmill, which are both still for sale.
“It’s been such a privilege to restore these one-of-a-kind properties and share them with you over the years,” Joanna said in a July 13 Instagram post. “As we look ahead to what’s next, it feels like the right time for these three special places to begin a new chapter.”
The 136-year-old castle boasts four bedrooms and 3.5 spalike bathrooms. There is also a formal dining room, a great room, and a luxurious kitchen where modern amenities are perfectly blended into the home’s vintage aesthetic.
The gem is also home to a handful of unique spaces, such as a card room, a formal library, and a conservatory.
“With gorgeous millwork, antique floor tiles, and diamond-paned windows, the estate exudes a timeless charm,” the listing added.
The home has a whopping seven fireplaces in a variety of styles, from a dusty pink mantel with burgundy tile adorned with floral sconces in one of the bedrooms to an ornate oversized hearth in the formal dining room.
Throughout the property, statement-making light fixtures and brass details create a cohesive vibe, while moody color palettes and graphic tiles add interest. Built-in storage was added and carefully curated with gorgeous antique finds.
The exterior of the home is equally as lavish, with the stately stone facade and lush green landscaping.
For those still hoping to score a residence with the Gaines seal of approval, the aforementioned Gristmill and Hillcrest Estate properties are still on the market.
Also featured on “Fixer Upper,” Hillcrest Estate is a Colonial-style property set on nearly 2 acres in Waco, TX. The five-bedroom, 3.5-bathroom home is 4,606 square feet and has a cozy, Southern aesthetic.
