With more than 25 years in executive leadership in Texas public education, including district budgeting, bond elections, debt management, and capital program execution, Rees will develop bond underwriting opportunities in the state, a Stephens statement said.

“Beau brings a perspective that will resonate with Texas issuers because he has spent his career making the kinds of long-term financial and capital decisions they face every day,” Leigh Ann Biernat, executive vice president and head of Stephens Public Finance, said in the statement.

“He understands how to work with boards, financial professionals, and community stakeholders to build consensus around important projects,” she added. “His experience, credibility, and longstanding relationships across Texas will strengthen our team as we continue to expand our underwriting relationships throughout the state.”

Rees, who has served as superintendent of several Texas school districts, has a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership from Texas Tech University, a Master of Science in Educational Administration from Abilene Christian University and a Bachelor of Science in Political Science from Texas A&M University.

“Having spent much of my career as a client of public finance firms, I understand firsthand how important responsiveness, clarity and trust are to a successful financing,” Rees said in the statement.
