ABN AMRO Clearing Tokyo Joins Tokyo Commodity Exchange as Broker Member for Electricity and Energy Futures | LeapRate

Tokyo Commodity Exchange, Inc. (TOCOM) said Monday that it has approved ABN AMRO Clearing Tokyo Co., Ltd. as a Broker Trading Participant.

The approval was granted on September 14, 2026, and Japan Securities Clearing Corporation (JSCC) has simultaneously awarded ABN AMRO an Energy Futures Clearing Qualification.

The qualification is scheduled to take effect on September 30, 2026. Once active, ABN AMRO will become TOCOM’s 12th Broker Member and JSCC’s 13th Energy Futures Clearing Participant.

The firm will then be positioned to offer clients a complete suite of services covering both brokerage and clearing for electricity (power) and other energy futures products traded on TOCOM.

Notably, ABN AMRO will be the first broker affiliated with an overseas global financial group to receive Broker Member status from TOCOM since the exchange’s 2019 merger with Japan Exchange Group, Inc.

TOCOM has been expanding its electricity futures offering in recent years as Japan’s energy markets continue to liberalize and demand grows for tools to hedge power price volatility. Adding a broker with international reach, such as ABN AMRO, could help draw greater overseas interest and liquidity into TOCOM’s energy contracts.
