HKEX and Dubai Regulators Form Working Group to Boost Market Connectivity | LeapRate

HKEX, the Hong Kong Monetary Authority, the Dubai Financial Services Authority and Nasdaq Dubai said Thursday that they have formed a strategic working group aimed at deepening cooperation and strengthening financial market connectivity between Hong Kong and the Dubai International Financial Centre.

The four organisations said the group brings together exchanges and regulators from both centres through a structured platform to align strategic priorities and pursue practical initiatives.

Its areas of focus will include sustainable finance, Islamic finance, innovation, capital markets development and market connectivity.

The announcement was made at the HKMA-DFSA Joint Climate Finance Conference in Hong Kong, which the organisations said attracted more than 350 in-person and online participants.

“Global capital flows are increasingly being shaped by the growing economic ties between Asia and the Middle East,” commented HKEX Chief Executive Bonnie Y Chan. “The Strategic Working Group is an important next step in translating that commitment into action by deepening collaboration, advancing market connectivity, and supporting innovation and sustainable growth.”

HKMA Chief Executive Eddie Yue stated that the group marked another key step in deepening institutional ties, while DFSA Chief Executive Mark Steward said it reflected the maturing of a shared commitment to collaboration within the Dubai-Hong Kong corridor.

Hamed Ali, chief executive of Nasdaq Dubai and Dubai Financial Market, pointed to Nasdaq Dubai’s position as a hub for fixed income and Islamic finance listings.

The organisations are expected to maintain regular engagement and explore further opportunities to strengthen the corridor.
