Vanquis Banking Group Announces CEO Transition as Ian McLaughlin to Step Down | LeapRate

Vanquis Banking Group plc announced on Friday that Chief Executive Officer Ian McLaughlin intends to step down for personal reasons no later than the end of the year.

John Natalizia, currently Deputy CEO and CEO of the Group’s Snoop fintech unit, will take over as Interim CEO once McLaughlin departs, pending regulatory approval.

In the coming months, Natalizia will attend Board meetings while McLaughlin works alongside him to ensure a smooth handover. The Board has also confirmed it will launch an internal and external search to find a permanent successor.

Natalizia joined Vanquis after the Group acquired fintech firm uSnoop Limited in July 2023 and has sat on the Group Executive Committee since then.

He was named Deputy CEO in April 2026 and currently oversees the Group’s product offerings, technology, and change delivery, including the Gateway transformation programme. He brings more than 25 years of banking experience from roles at Virgin Money and MBNA before co-founding Snoop.

Group Chairman Sir Peter Estlin thanked McLaughlin for his role in turning around Vanquis, noting the Group had returned to profitability under his leadership with a clearer path toward sustainable shareholder returns. Estlin said the Board retains confidence in the strategy and management team under Natalizia and Chief Financial Officer Dave Watts.

McLaughlin thanked the Board and colleagues for their support during the turnaround, saying he was proud of the progress made and confident in the Group’s future direction as it continues serving its customer base.
