French Fintech Firm Outline Secures New Funding For AI Enabled Financial Planning Solutions
Paris-based startup Outline has closed a $3 million seed round as it seeks to give finance leaders an alternative to the monthly grind of rebuilding forecasts in spreadsheets. Founders Future led the financing, with 100in, Newschool and a group of industry angels also participating.
Among the angel investors are Cegid chief executive Bruno Vaffier, Alan AI lead Antoine Lizée and Pennylane finance director Raphaël Nahum.
The company was founded in June 2026 by Antoine de Mereuil and Hubert Jaouen, both former Alan employees with complementary backgrounds in finance operations and product building.
Jaouen, an engineer trained at Ponts and the London School of Economics, previously built financial forecasting tools at Spotify ahead of its public listing and later handled planning work at Alan.
De Mereuil brings commercial and entrepreneurial experience from Frichti, Alan and an earlier venture, Primo.
Together they argue that finance teams remain under-equipped compared with functions such as engineering or sales, even though they sit at the centre of corporate decision-making.
Outline’s product is aimed at companies generating between €5 million and €150 million in revenue—businesses that have outgrown basic spreadsheet control but do not yet justify enterprise planning suites.
Users connect accounting, invoicing, payroll, sales systems and internal files. Specialised AI agents then model activity, generate forecasts and run scenario simulations. Queries can be made in natural language.
The founders say some finance teams currently spend as many as four full days each month refreshing forecasts; Outline aims to compress that work into minutes while keeping assumptions documented, traceable and shareable.
The team stresses vertical specialisation rather than a generic chatbot.
A chief financial officer, they argue, cannot present board numbers produced by a general-purpose model that may not understand the company’s actual drivers.
Reliability and auditability are therefore treated as design constraints, not afterthoughts.
Outline already counts about ten paying finance teams among its customers, including those at Zelty, Shares and HarfangLab, with more expected to come online.
The three-person founding team plans to use the new capital mainly for hiring on product and go-to-market, with expansion targeted first in France, then the rest of Europe and the United States.
Investors point to the founders’ mix of finance-domain knowledge and product craft as the reason the round came together quickly.
Founders Future partner Louis Sautet described the problem as hard enough that few teams tackle it seriously, and said de Mereuil and Jaouen have the dual culture the market requires. The raise arrives as French and European finance teams face tighter reporting demands and a greater expectation that CFOs contribute to strategy rather than only close the books.
