Experian Deploys a ChatGPT Plugin to Help Consumers Find Credit Cards – Digital Transactions

With nearly 59% of U.S. consumers knowingly using an artificial-intelligence chatbot, according to the Pew Research Center, credit-reporting agency Experian plc is putting its credit card marketplace into AI tool ChatGPT.

Announced Thursday, the plugin, available on ChatGPT’s plugin site, lets consumers explore credit card options for various types, such as travel, rewards, and cashback. Dubbed Experian Credit Cards app, the service will make it easier for consumers to find a new credit card offer without having to have multiple browser tabs open and it can make it easier to compare offers, Experian says.

Consumers using the plugin can start the process by inputting the type of card they want, or not. The purpose of the initial question is to narrow down which cards are reviewed for presentment, Experian says. The process will work without a preference. Experian also says no personally identifiable information is collected in the ChatGPT experience. Consumers choosing an offer are then moved to the Experian Web site to review the offers again and initiate the application process.

“Consumers expect financial experiences to be as intuitive as the technology they use every day,” Debbie Hsu, Experian Consumer Services executive vice president, says in a statement. “By bringing our credit card marketplace into ChatGPT, we’re making it easier for people to explore their options, compare cards with confidence, and take the next step when the time is right.”

Experian says the Credit Cards app is part of its overall AI strategy to reach consumers where they are. It also has a loans plugin for ChatGPT.

The Experian Credit Cards app on ChatGPT can help a consumer find a new credit card offer when using the AI engine.
