Barclays has appointed Ramin Naji as Managing Director and Head of Healthcare & Real Estate, Asia Pacific, the bank announced on Wednesday.

The move is seen as part of a broader effort by Barclays to deepen its sector expertise and strengthen coverage across the region and globally.

Based in Hong Kong, Naji will oversee Barclays’ healthcare and real estate sector strategy across Asia Pacific, focusing on client engagement, deal origination and execution.

He will work alongside global product and coverage teams to provide clients with advisory, financing and risk management services.

In his new role, he will report regionally to Avinash Thakur, Head of Investment Banking, Asia Pacific, and functionally to Richard Landgarten, Global Head of Healthcare & Real Estate Groups.

Commenting on the appointment, Thakur said he was pleased to welcome Naji to Barclays, citing his healthcare experience, strong client relationships and proven track record as key contributions to the firm’s investment banking strategy.

He added that healthcare continues to be a strategically important sector and a major global opportunity for the bank.

Naji joins Barclays from Deutsche Bank, where he served as Managing Director and Head of Healthcare Asia Pacific. He previously held investment banking roles at Bank of America Merrill Lynch and worked in principal investing and advisory capacities in Tokyo and Hong Kong.

He has more than 20 years experience spanning healthcare, corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, and capital markets to his new position at Barclays.
