Coinbase Selects Chainlink as Oracle for New Tokenized Stocks | LeapRate

Coinbase said Monday that it has selected Chainlink as the official oracle infrastructure powering its newly launched Tokenized Stocks, extending their utility across the Base DeFi ecosystem.

Through Chainlink Data Feeds, the crypto exchange said builders across Base will have access to continuous pricing for its tokenised stocks, including tokens tracking Nvidia, Meta, Apple and Alphabet.

Chainlink explained that the data enables DeFi protocols such as lending markets, decentralised exchanges and structured product platforms to support tokenised equities as collateral, turning them from standalone tokens into composable building blocks.

Coinbase noted that Tokenized Stocks are real equity securities issued as standard B20 tokens on Base, each backed one-to-one by an underlying share held in regulated custody with Alpaca under the Abu Dhabi Global Market framework.

The companies noted that tokenised equities are one of the fastest-growing categories of real-world assets, reaching a record $2.3 billion by mid-July 2026.

“Base has built one of the most vibrant DeFi ecosystems out there, and Chainlink’s oracle infra unlocks new utility for tokenized assets,” said Antonio Garcia-Martinez, head of growth at Base. He added that the move gives millions of users access to financial primitives previously locked behind traditional gatekeepers.

Johann Eid, chief business officer at Chainlink Labs, stated that tokenised assets only reach their full potential when the broader ecosystem can build with them across DeFi, adding that the collaboration accelerates the convergence of traditional and decentralised finance.

Chainlink said the pricing data unlocks 24/7 collateral management, letting Base users earn yield and borrow against US stocks. The tokenised stocks are available only in eligible jurisdictions outside the US.
