Fantasy football league launches in aid of MIMHC

Mortgage professionals are being invited to join an industry-wide fantasy football league in aid of the Mortgage Industry Mental Health Charter (MIMHC).

The league has been organised by JammJar, the operating system for mortgage advisers, and is open to anyone working across mortgages and property finance, including brokers, lenders, networks, clubs, packagers, conveyancers and surveyors.

Mortgage Advice Bureau (MAB) and JammJar are sponsoring the prizes, with 100% of entry fees going to the charter.

Entry is a minimum £10 donation, with entrants free to give more, and closes at 6:30pm on Friday 21 August, which is the Gameweek 1 deadline.

The top prize, provided by MAB, is two tickets to watch an England men’s home international game from Club Wembley for whoever tops the table at the end of the season.

JammJar is funding the cash prizes, which include an additional £200 for the winner, £200 for second place and £100 for third.

The charter, founded in 2021, is a not-for-profit foundation working to improve mental health and wellbeing across the mortgage and property finance industry. More than 400 firms have now signed it, covering over 30,000 people.

Karl Griffin, chief executive and co-founder of JammJar, said: “This industry is competitive, opinionated and about four degrees of separation from top to bottom, which makes it almost perfectly designed for a fantasy football league. We wanted to point that energy at something useful and the MIMHC was the obvious choice.

“It does fantastic work in raising awareness and providing importance guidance that helps people in the mortgage industry to take better care of their mental health.”

Jason Berry, co-founder of the MIMHC, said: “One of the things we continually champion through MIMHC is the importance of connection.

“Fantasy football creates conversation, friendly rivalry and a reason for people right across our industry to engage with each other, while raising funds that will be reinvested into improving mental health and wellbeing support.”

Firms are being encouraged to set up their own mini leagues within the main table so colleagues can compete internally while still appearing on the industry-wide leader board, which is published at fpl.jammjar.com and updated after every game week.
