Another Hamptons Listing Takes Aim at Market Record
One Hamptons home is trying again for a record sale.
The anonymous buyer behind the $72 million purchase of 43 East Dune Lane in East Hampton is putting the home back on the market five months after buying it, the New York Post reported. The asking price this time around is $162 million, which would be a record for the East End.
It’s an aspirational goal for the owner, who purchased the 3.6-acre estate in March after it had been on the market since June 2024. It was initially asking $120 million, making it the most expensive listing in the Hamptons at the time. It was last asking $84.9 million.
The seller in March was Ann Tenenbaum, who owned the home with her husband, private equity pioneer Thomas H. Lee. Lee died in February 2023, prompting Tenenbaum to list the home.
Built in 1910, the 11,000-square-foot main residence has 10 bedrooms, 12 bathrooms, 15-foot ceilings, a private grotto and a heated 24-by-58-foot oceanside pool. The estate also has more than 200 feet of ocean frontage, a 1,500-square-foot guest studio and a tennis court.
The home was once part of an even larger 80-acre estate owned by ink manufacturer Frank Wiborg. Lee and Tenenbaum bought their piece of the property from Lee Radziwill, the sister of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, and film director Herbert Ross for $16.2 million in 2001. Lee and Tenenbaum rebuilt the home twice, including after a fire in 2013 caused by a basement light fixture.
Compass’ Terry Cohen, one of the listing brokers behind the March deal, has the listing this time too.
There are a number of homeowners in the Hamptons eyeing a new successor to the market’s current home sale record of $147 million.
In June, the former East Hampton estate of designer Calvin Klein was listed for $165 million. The roughly 8-acre home at 121 West End Road last sold for $85 million in 2021.
Two weeks prior, Zach Schreiber, founder of hedge fund PointState Capital, listed his property at 39 Fairfield Pond Lane in Sagaponack for $152.5 million.
