Perez Hilton Is Hospitalized After Incident at Miami Home
Celebrity blogger Perez Hilton has been hospitalized in Florida after an incident at his Miami home, just a few weeks after he relocated back to the Sunshine State from Las Vegas in order to be closer to his loved ones.
Police in Miami responded to multiple calls about a distressing livestream video that Hilton, 48, posted on his TikTok account—which prompted several of his followers to request a welfare check at his property.
When officers arrived at the address in the Westchester neighborhood of Miami, they found a person there alone, a statement from the Miami-Dade County Sheriff’s Office (MDSCO) confirmed—although it did not name the individual involved.
A spokesperson for the sheriff’s department noted that officers who arrived at the residence carried out a “de-escalation” process typically used in cases involving a “person experiencing a mental health crisis or actively harming themselves.”
“In many incidents involving a person experiencing a mental health crisis or actively harming themselves, deputies prioritize de-escalation by creating time, distance, and opportunities for communication,” the MDCSO spokesperson told People magazine.
Officers were able to transport Hilton to a nearby hospital, where mental health professionals and the Crisis Response Unit offered support to his friends and family.
Hilton, who was born and raised in Miami, only recently relocated back to the Florida city, having spent the last few years living in Las Vegas, where he built a stunning custom mansion for himself, his kids, and his mother.
However, in June, he put that property on the market for $4.25 million, soon after announcing that he was leaving Nevada in order to return to Miami, citing a desire to return to his roots, while also noting he felt that God wanted him to move back to the Sunshine State.
“We’re moving permanently to Miami. I am so excited, not nervous. I know this is the right move for me and my children and my mother,” he said in a video posted to his Instagram account.
Although Hilton insisted he has “nothing but wonderful memories” while calling Nevada home, he claimed that his decision to relocate to the Sunshine State came from a higher power.
“I need to move to Miami for many reasons. First, this is heaven-sent. God told me to move to Miami. … The holy spirit made these words come out of my mouth: ‘Let’s move to Miami,'” he said.
The celebrity blogger went on to note that he had spent time overcoming the “trauma” he experienced while growing up in Miami and felt he was in a good place to return to his former home.
“My entire family is in Miami. I still have friends from high school. Though I have not lived there in 30 years, it has always been my home. Once we move there, any second now, it will feel like home right away,” he added.
After listing his Vegas home, Hilton, who has three children via surrogacy, explained to Realtor.com that a large part of his decision to move was also due to a very difficult year, during which he suffered several health scares, including a 21-day hospital stay and a blood clot.
“Even though it was really painful being in the hospital and so sick, I reconnected with my faith, and this move to Miami feels divine. I was just listening to God. I used to not have a great relationship with Miami when I was younger, but now things are different and Miami is different, and I’m excited to get to rediscover it as an adult,” he said.
Speaking about his health woes, he added, “I know this move will be great for my family. Nearly dying this year twice and the experience here—you never think it’s going to happen, but it was just so hard not only for me but my mom, for the kids, for my sister who is in Los Angeles.
“Everybody else is in Miami. To a new beginning and thank you, God, for guiding me back to Florida where my family needs to be.”
Not long after sharing the news of his relocation on Instagram, the social media personality listed his sprawling six-bedroom, 6.5-bathroom property, which is situated on a corner lot in the Prado community.
While speaking to Realtor.com about his move, he reflected on what he’ll miss most about his property, which is listed with Kathryn Winterton of Las Vegas Sotheby’s International Realty, and his fond memories of Las Vegas.
“It is a beautiful home, and it served me well personally and professionally,” he said. “I filmed tons of television segments and news interviews from this home, and produced two documentaries.
“I would film every day for my socials, and livestream as well, and I do a lot of talking head commentary work. I filmed tons of specials for different networks and streamers in my home and outdoors. It’s just so beautiful,”
“All three of my favorite spaces in the home have one thing in common—they are all very healing for me. The primary bath has the biggest, most luxurious shower that I’ve ever had, and the closet is huge and has so much space. Also, I never had my own, dedicated office before, and I really loved that. It’s just the perfect home for a family. Everybody has space,” he added.
Speaking about the property’s location, Hilton added, “It was important for me to be close to the Strip, but it’s equal distance to Summerlin and everywhere we needed to be. My children’s schools, doctors, and dentists were all just a few minutes away.”
Hilton was especially pleased with the fact that his mother had her own private living space. One of home designer Blue Heron’s signature features is a “NexGen Suite,” and, because he bought the home before it was finished, he got to customize elements of the layout to ensure they were perfect for his mom.
“This was perfect for me, because my mother is a huge part of my family,” said Hilton. “She’s both grandmother and co-parent to my children. To be able to give her the space that she deserves was important. She had her own entrance, her own living room and kitchenette area.”
However, despite his love for Nevada, Hilton noted that he was confident in his decision to leave.
“It just feels like the right move, the only move, to make at this time. I’ve loved Las Vegas, but it’s time to be closer to family,” he added.
The home spans 7,000 square feet and boasts several modern living spaces, as well as a resort-style pool.
As in so many family dwellings, Hilton said the kitchen is the heart of the home, with its premium appliances, sleek custom cabinetry and a massive dining and prep island.
The kitchen opens up to the high-ceiling living and dining areas, which feel expansive, welcoming and luxurious. Generous walls of glass provide abundant natural light create a light, airy atmosphere.
Outdoors on the acre lot there’s a pool, spa, lush landscaping and multiple outdoor gathering spaces. Hilton said he did a lot of his production work outside, as there are a variety of luxurious backdrops ideal for his commentary.
Set in a chic, private gated neighborhood known as Prado, Hilton enjoyed the fact that the home is on a corner lot in a small community with fewer than 20 homes.
“It’s not only super private, but also very intimate,” he explained.
Hilton and his family enjoyed the home, the community and Las Vegas in general so much he says he feels a bit of guilt moving his family away. But “kids are adaptable,” he noted—pointing to his past experience of relocating his family.
A little over three years ago, Hilton packed up his three children and his mother and moved to Las Vegas from Los Angeles, the city where he had infinite Hollywood connections and a luxe, six bedroom, five bath classic Spanish Colonial built in 1926.
Prior to that, Hilton and his family lived in New York City for several years.
