Paymentus Revenue Surges as Businesses Seek Smooth Billing

Bill payment solution provider Paymentus posted record revenue in the second quarter as service providers sought to secure customer loyalty by providing a satisfying billing experience, Paymentus Founder and CEO Dushyant Sharma said during a Monday (Aug. 3) earnings call.

Citing findings from an upcoming PYMNTS Intelligence report, Sharma said customers’ billing and payment experiences impact the strength and length of their relationships with service providers, because they affect how customers judge overall service quality.

The research also found that billing and payment experiences impact service providers’ cash flows, because customers who are dissatisfied with the billing experience choose to delay payments, Sharma said.

“Paymentus’ mission is to close the satisfaction gap,” Sharma said during the call. “Our customers realize that the providers who close the gap first will obtain a loyalty advantage that compounds over a lengthy period of time.”

“Our results show how successful we have been in doing this and that this momentum is continuing,” Sharma said. “In other words, we believe the market continues to move in our direction.”

During the quarter ended June 30, Paymentus’ revenue grew 28.8% year over year to reach a record $360.7 million, according to a Monday press release.

Paymentus’ revenue gains were driven by increased billers and transactions. Transactions were up 21.4% year over year and reached 213.4 million in the second quarter, per the release.

In terms of billers, Paymentus implemented clients in multiple verticals during the second quarter, including utilities, government agencies, insurance, banking, telecommunications, healthcare, property management, B2B and consumer finance, according to a presentation released Monday.

With strong booking and a backlog quarter, Paymentus raised the midpoint of its revenue guidance for fiscal year 2026 by 1.3%, per the presentation.

Paymentus announced new products in May that it said established a new category the company calls “AI-Native Service Commerce.” The category includes a digital wallet designed for bill and service payments called BillWallet, an intelligent interaction and experience layer called Billeo, an AI-based integration, orchestration and data intelligence framework called AI360, and a security framework called SecureService.

“With Billeo, our native AI, native service commerce suite announcement, we have set a foundation for Paymentus to become a premium AI and software company, in addition to a premium sophisticated billing and payment company,” Sharma said during Monday’s call.
