Amkor Could Add to $7B Peoria Facility
Amkor Technology is building a $7 billion packaging and testing facility in Peoria, slated to open in 2027. Last October, Amkor broke ground on its Peoria manufacturing facility and announced it would increase its investment in the project from $2 billion to $7 billion.
The Phoenix Business Journal reports Amkor’s Peoria facility has already landed backing by major customer commitments from Apple, Nvidia and a 10-year agreement with Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. The company is building its 2.3 million-square-foot manufacturing campus in two phases, which will offer more than 750,000 square feet of cleanroom space and generate 3,000 new jobs.
Amkor recently bought 67 acres near its advanced packaging and test facility to support potential future expansion.
