Conventus is a year-round program that aims to bring together small firm leaders, practice management experts and facilitators to help with pricing, service offerings, talent, technology, artificial intelligence and succession.

“Independent firm leaders carry an enormous amount of responsibility, and too often they carry it alone,” Erin Hartman, president and managing director of Conventus, said in a statement. “Conventus replaces isolation with community and uncertainty with confidence. Our members don’t just listen to experts. They pressure-test ideas with peers who understand their reality, leave with clear actions, and have support in place to follow through.”

Membership includes monthly learning days, structured roundtable discussions, resources and access to advisors, quarterly reviews comparing firm performance with peers, focus groups centered on specific single priorities, and an in-person gathering called the Annual Conventus Summit.

“The firms that thrive will be the ones that make better decisions faster, and that rarely happens in a vacuum,” Philip Whitman, president and CEO  of Whitman Advisory and advisor to Conventus, said in a statement. “Firms under $8 million in revenue deserve solutions designed for their size and complexity, not scaled-down versions of what larger firms use. Conventus gives these leaders the expertise and peer insight that is difficult to build internally, helping to protect what makes their firm worth keeping and take it further.”

This initiative is one of many Whitman has announced in the past year. Earlier this month, it  launched a system that helps firms grow by giving them a 12-month roadmap and a strategic advisor called Whitman360 Strategic Growth Partnership. In September it launched a 90-day succession-planning program for departing firm leaders called the Partner & Leadership Transition Coaching Program. In May, it partnered with Maxwell Leadership and Lions Pride leadership to launch a leadership development and coaching company called CPA Leadership Group. And in June, it released a firm valuation tool called ValueMyCPAFirm.com.
