Ignition, a payment and billing solutions provider, announced the launch of its new offering, Parkes, described as an AI coworker specifically for accounting and bookkeeping firms to manage their business so they can concentrate more on their clients. In general, it analyzes and drafts the operating work that drives growth but rarely makes it to the top of the list.

“Most accounting firms aren’t short of work. They’re short of qualified people, and AI hasn’t helped them solve that yet,” said Greg Strickland, CEO of Ignition. “So we built Parkes as an AI coworker any firm can bring on, using the tools it already has, to take on the work that actually grows the firm. Parkes is for every accounting firm, and everyone inside it, whether they use Ignition or not.”

Among other things, it can find underpriced work by reviewing current proposals, service items, and active agreements to surface scoping issues, upsell opportunities, and clients who are underpriced. Parkes reads each client’s engagement and finds the work outside it: extra services, one-off requests, the job that grew. Users connect their inbox and call notes to catch new asks as they land, then it drafts the updated proposal for review. It also prepares renewals, repricing, and new service proposals from the firm’s existing terms.

Parkes also assists with collection by identifying invoices nobody has followed up on and drafts the outreach. The AI checks what the firm has billed against what’s been paid in their ledger, finds what’s overdue and drafts a reminder for each client in the firm’s own voice with the ability to review in Teams or Slack and send with one click.

Firms can also use Parkes to rebuild service catalogs and clean up client lists they had put off for months. They can compare client lists across billing, ledger and practice management, then flag duplicates, missing clients and clients who’ve gone quiet, with the reason for each. Users approve the cleanup and it archives them, with undo if they change their mind.

During setup, users will tell Parkes the role they intend for it to fill, the start date and a little about their firm. The AI will then draft the onboarding pack, from a welcome note to a 30-day plan, ready for review. Users can immediately begin telling Parkes what to do or start with ready-made playbooks built with accountants, like onboarding a new client or rolling out a price increase. Parkes runs each step across the stack, stops for approval where it matters and logs every step with its source. Everything Parkes does is logged, so firms can look back at what it read, what it changed, and who approved it. It does the drafting and the legwork. The accountant makes the call.

Firms always know what Parkes can see, and it never acts without checking with them first. Firms can set guardrails at the firm level to decide which actions Parkes can take automatically, which need approval, and which are turned off entirely. It’s built with the same SOC 2 security as Ignition.

Parkes is open to any firm and works across the tools firms already use, including Ignition, Slack, Microsoft Teams, QuickBooks, Xero and leading practice management solutions, with more than 30 integrations and more added regularly. The product was developed by a small team within Ignition and now operates as its own brand, led by Tom Maxwell. Tom has worked alongside Ignition customers for more than 12 years, most recently as vice president of customer experience. Before joining Ignition, he managed millions of dollars of delivery work for a professional services firm.

“Parkes already knows how accounting firms run, so you don’t have to teach it the basics,” said Tom Maxwell, general manager of Parkes. “As you connect your tools and hand it more work, it builds up the knowledge, context and rules for your firm. It does the drafting and asks before it acts, so owners get time back for their clients.”
