Overall, silver rates have crashed harder by 6.4% compared to gold.
“Gold ended the week with a modest loss as investors assess mixed signals from the Federal Reserve and persistent inflationary pressure. On COMEX, prices remain above the $4,000 mark but are consolidating within a broad range, with support near $4,075 and resistance around $4,400. Stronger-than-expected September CPI and PPI data have raised concerns that inflation may remain sticky, limiting the scope for aggressive monetary easing,” as per SMC Global Securities note.
Market expectations currently indicate a relatively low probability of a rate hike later this month, while the probability of a December hike remains elevated. Hawkish comments from Fed officials have added to uncertainty, with policymakers emphasizing the need to monitor inflation expectations and economic resilience.
At the same time, SMC’s note said the US dollar is heading toward its first weekly decline in five weeks, offering some support to dollar-denominated gold. In India, the suspension of bulk subscriptions to Gold ETFs by several major mutual funds ahead of the festive season has created an additional near-term sentiment factor. The move could affect investment flows, although redemption facilities remain available.
Gold & Silver Prices Weekly Outlook
According to SMC’s note, gold demand around Dussehra and Diwali, combined with rupee weakness and elevated import costs, remains important for domestic prices. Silver is also expected to remain volatile, with COMEX prices likely to trade in the $55-$65 range as investors balance industrial demand, monetary policy expectations and broader precious-metal sentiment. For the coming week, MCX Gold may trade in the range of Rs 1,43,000- Rs 1,52,500, while Silver may remain between Rs 2,05,000 and Rs 2,20,000. Overall, bullion markets are likely to remain range-bound but highly sensitive to Fed commentary, inflation expectations, dollar movements and global
risk sentiment. A sustained breakout beyond these levels could trigger stronger directional momentum in precious metals ahead.
“Gold had its steepest weekly fall in over four months as Houthi strikes on Saudi oil infrastructure pushed Brent above $112, reviving inflation concerns and higher-for-longer rate expectations. An AI-led equity selloff added to the liquidation. The Fed meets on October 27-28, with PCE inflation data also due next week. Overall, the trend is weak, with oversold conditions raising the risk of a sharp relief bounce,” said Ponmudi R, CEO of Enrich Money.
For silver, Ponmudi added, silver fell harder than gold, dropping roughly 7% in a single session on Thursday as the AI-led equity selloff and higher energy costs weighed on both the industrial and investment demand outlook. Brent above $112 kept inflation concerns firmly in play ahead of next week’s Fed meeting. Overall, the trend remains strongly bearish, though stretched momentum raises the odds of a technical bounce.
