GB Bank hires Merrey as BDM; Together recruits regional sales director – round-up

GB Bank has hired Helen Merrey, a former senior key account manager at Uinsure, to the role of business development manager (BDM), bringing with her more than a decade of experience in the field.

Her former roles include regional account manager at West One Loans.

Throughout her career, she has developed extensive experience working with intermediaries across the North of England and Scotland.

Her appointment follows a period of continued growth for GB Bank, which recently surpassed £1bn in lending and expanded its commercial investment proposition, in addition to increasing its maximum loan size to £25m.

The bank has also recently joined industry bodies the Financial Intermediary & Broker Association (FIBA) and the Bridging & Development Lenders Association (BDLA).

Merrey said: “I’m looking forward to getting out and speaking with our intermediary partners, understanding the challenges they’re facing and helping them identify opportunities where our lending expertise can make a difference.”

Adnan Ali, head of intermediary distribution at GB Bank, said: “As our lending proposition develops, we need to ensure the experience intermediaries have when dealing with us continues to match the capabilities we’re offering. Having the right products is important, but so is having experienced people who can recognise the potential in an application and help intermediaries navigate the process.”

Together’s regional focus

Meanwhile, Together has recruited banking and corporate real estate expert Mark Heyes as the finance firm expands its regional presence.

Heyes, who has more than four decades of experience in financial services, has been appointed the business’ corporate sales director for Yorkshire.

He will be responsible for promoting the specialist lender’s bridging loans, commercial mortgages and development finance to introducers and direct customers across the growing region.

He said: “There are large numbers of opportunities in the region and beyond, across a wide variety of asset types, including offices, industrial, residential, leisure and agriculture.”

Heyes began his career in financial services in 1986 at the former Midland Bank and most recently worked in the private debt market, working on property deals of up to £50m.
