Citadel Securities Europe Profit Falls 38%
Citadel Securities (Europe) Limited made 38.3% less profit in 2025, according to accounts filed at Companies House on the 8th of October. Finance Magnates reported that profit fell to $29.2m from $47.3m, while total income dropped 18.7% to $252.5m from $310.8m.
The company is a European arm of Citadel Securities and does market making, meaning it quotes buy and sell prices continuously so that others can trade. Finance Magnates says it is regulated by the FCA.
Directors blamed lower trading volumes in core markets and spending on new strategies, including a larger sterling bond market-making business. Operating profit was $39.9m, down 44.2%, and net gains on the trading book were $121.6m, down 19.5%. Operating expenses fell 11.2% to $212.6m, a slower decline than income, so profit fell faster than revenue.

While earnings shrank, the capital behind the entity grew. The parent made a $100m capital contribution to fund increasing capital requirements, a payment from a shareholder that adds to equity rather than being a loan. That followed a $100m dividend paid to the parent in 2024; no dividend was paid in 2025.
Equity rose 37.4% to $474.3m. Common Equity Tier 1 (CET1), the highest quality regulatory capital, rose 49.5% to $444.7m, and total assets climbed 47.3% to $985.3m.
Return on equity, which measures profit against shareholders’ funds, fell to 7.12% from 12.73%. The directors cited the company’s working capital needs:
higher working capital requirements to support its trading activity
