Immorta Bio Pioneers AI-Designed Senolytic Immunotherapy Targeting Diseases of Aging
Breakthrough Nine-Amino-Acid Peptide Designed to Restore the Immune System’s Ability to Eliminate Senescent Cells, With Clinical Entry Planned for 2026
MIAMI, Oct. 12, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Immorta Bio, Inc., a biotechnology company pioneering therapies targeting fundamental mechanisms of aging, today announced the completion of its planned preclinical studies for SenoMune™-0257, an AI-designed peptide immunotherapy developed to restore the immune system’s ability to recognize and eliminate senescent cells. The company is preparing to advance this novel therapeutic candidate into clinical development in 2026.
The Senolytic Revolution: A New Frontier in Medicine
One of the most significant discoveries in aging biology is that the accumulation of senescent cells, often called “zombie cells,” contributes to chronic inflammation, tissue deterioration, and the progression of numerous diseases.
Extensive preclinical research has demonstrated that eliminating senescent cells can produce substantial therapeutic benefits across experimental models of cardiovascular disease, liver and kidney dysfunction, pulmonary disease, fibrosis, neurodegeneration, and cancer. Landmark studies have also demonstrated improved physical function and extended lifespan in mice.
The implications are enormous: targeting a fundamental biological mechanism shared by numerous diseases could open new possibilities for both treating and preventing disease through a common therapeutic approach.
However, experimental small-molecule senolytics face challenges, including potential off-target toxicity and the inability to generate durable immunological memory.
Immorta Bio is pioneering a different approach: restoring the immune system’s ability to recognize and eliminate senescent cells.
From Senolytic Immunotherapy to an AI-Designed Pharmaceutical Breakthrough
Building on its published SenoVax™ research demonstrating tumor suppression and substantial survival extension in experimental cancer and accelerated aging models, Immorta Bio applied artificial intelligence to identify SenoMune™-0257, a synthetic nine-amino-acid peptide designed to stimulate targeted immune responses against senescent cells.
This breakthrough transforms a complex cellular immunotherapy into a potentially universal, off-the-shelf pharmaceutical product, combining immune-mediated targeting with the simplicity and scalability of a synthetic peptide.
Preclinical laboratory studies demonstrated that SenoMune™-0257 stimulates cytotoxic T cells capable of selectively eliminating senescent cells while sparing healthy cells under the conditions tested.
The candidate is designed to offer durable immunological memory and reduced off-target toxicity, while enabling simpler production and substantially lower manufacturing costs than personalized cellular immunotherapies.
“We believe senolytic immunotherapy represents a fundamental breakthrough in how diseases of aging can be treated,” said Boris Reznik, PhD, Chairman and CEO of Immorta Bio.
“By restoring the immune system’s natural ability to eliminate senescent cells, we aim to address a biological mechanism underlying multiple diseases. Combining our pioneering immunotherapy research with artificial intelligence has enabled us to translate this discovery into a remarkably simple nine-amino-acid peptide. We believe this could open the door to an entirely new class of medicines with applications across multiple major diseases.”
From Breakthrough Science to Clinical Medicine
With its planned preclinical experimentation completed, Immorta Bio is preparing for clinical entry in 2026, with initial human evaluation anticipated before year-end.
“Our SenoVax™ research provided the scientific foundation for identifying immune targets associated with cellular senescence,” said Thomas Ichim, PhD, President and Chief Scientific Officer of Immorta Bio.
“By leveraging artificial intelligence, we identified dozens of potential peptide candidates and progressively narrowed them through computational analysis and laboratory experimentation to SenoMune™-0257. More importantly, we have established a discovery engine capable of generating additional peptide immunotherapies targeting senescence-associated and other disease-related biological mechanisms.”
Why It Matters
SenoMune™-0257 combines three important advances: targeting a fundamental mechanism of aging, translating immunotherapy into a scalable synthetic peptide, and approaching human clinical evaluation.
“The clinical implications of targeting cellular senescence could be far-reaching,” said Gilberto Lopes, MD, Strategic Advisor to Immorta Bio and Chief of the Division of Medical Oncology at the University of Miami.
“Many serious diseases share underlying biological processes, including chronic inflammation and cellular senescence. A therapy capable of restoring the immune system’s ability to eliminate senescent cells could represent an important new direction in medicine. The opportunity to address a common biological driver across multiple diseases is particularly compelling.”
Immorta Bio’s scientific foundation includes peer-reviewed publications in oncology and longevity, supported by collaborations with the Buck Institute, Cedars-Sinai, UC San Diego, and the University of Miami.
The company’s objective is to translate these discoveries into a new generation of pharmaceutical therapies, restoring youthful biology as a therapeutic engine.
