A Look Back at Day 1
Yesterday’s discussions covered a wide range of topics, from the growing convergence between retail brokers and proprietary trading firms to Hong Kong’s position in the global gold and digital asset markets.
One of the sessions examined how sports sponsorships are helping brokers build their brands beyond traditional advertising.
“They build curiosity among people,” said Eric Xiao, Head of Sales (Asia) at CMC Markets, referring to merchandise featuring well-known football clubs and other sports teams. CMC Markets recently signed a front-of-shirt sponsorship deal with Everton.
Bruno Moraes, Global Event Manager at FP Markets, also highlighted the importance of such partnerships, describing them as “much more about experience.”
Another panel explored the rise of hybrid trading businesses, as brokers increasingly introduce funded trading programmes while prop firms expand their technology and infrastructure offerings. The discussion also covered customer acquisition, revenue diversification and the regulatory challenges of scaling these businesses across Asia.
Hong Kong’s position as a financial hub was also in focus during a session presented by Bloomberg and the Hong Kong Gold Exchange. The discussion explored developments in gold, commodities, investment flows, China and the growing digital asset market.
