Gold rates and silver rates in India are likely to gain on Friday, October 9, 2026, due to a rally in the global bullion market. Spot gold gained by 1% and spot silver surged by 2% to trade around $4,175 per ounce and $60 per ounce. This came after when crude oil prices dropped by 1%, with US WTI crude oil trading near $91 per barrel and Brent crude near $104 per barrel.

MCX gold and MCX silver prices are likely to follow the trend.

Elsewhere, the US 10-year treasury yield also held around 5.23% on Friday, still away from 24-year highs after well-received 30-year bond auction. The 30-year treasury yield also stood steady around 5.61%.

Also, US dollar slipped mildly but continued to be around 102 as markets price in roughly 82% probability of US Federal Reserve to hold rates in October policy, but with a 81% probability of a hike in the December policy.

Investors assessed developments in the Middle East and the outlook for Federal Reserve monetary policy. Oil prices eased after President Donald Trump said the US was engaged in “productive discussions” with Iran and would refrain from attacking the country before the midterm elections. His comments came even as Iran intensified attacks on tankers passing through the Strait of Hormuz this week. A hurricane also disrupted US offshore oil production in the Gulf of Mexico. Meanwhile, markets are currently pricing in an approximately 82% probability that the Fed will keep interest rates unchanged this month, while the odds of a rate hike in December stand at around 81%. On Thursday, St. Louis Fed President Alberto Musalem indicated that rates may need to rise over the next six to nine months to bring inflation back toward the central bank’s 2% target, as per Trading Economics.
