Romans appoints sales director after 25-year tenure

Romans, part of the LRG group, has appointed Jonathan Hawthorne as Sales Director following a 25-year career progression within the Thames Valley-based estate agency.

Hawthorne joined Romans in 2001 as a trainee sales advisor and has advanced through multiple management positions. He became manager of the company’s Bracknell office in 2014, before successive promotions to area sales manager, area sales director and regional sales director.

Leadership transition amid market challenges

The appointment comes as estate agents navigate extended transaction times and shifting market conditions. Hawthorne’s role will focus on team development, performance improvement and customer service standards across Romans’ 27 offices, which operate predominantly in the Thames Valley region.

Kevin Shaw, National Sales Managing Director of LRG, stated: “After more than 25 years with Romans, there can be few people who know our business as well as Jonathan. His experience, passion, work ethic and genuine belief in the brand make him a fantastic choice to lead our sales operation.”

Industry consolidation continues

The internal promotion reflects a broader trend of consolidation within the UK estate agency sector, where established regional operators are strengthening management structures. Romans operates as part of LRG, which oversees multiple property service brands across the country.

Hawthorne said: “Romans has been a huge part of my career, and I’m proud to take on this role. We have talented teams across our growing number of offices, and I’m looking forward to working with them all to take the business to even greater heights.”

The appointment takes effect immediately, with Hawthorne assuming responsibility for sales operations across all 27 Romans offices in the Thames Valley area.
