Van den Berg will assist with the leadership transition, while MPC’s senior team continues overseeing the association’s day-to-day operations, including education programs, events, advocacy and member services.

“Leading MPC has been an incredibly rewarding experience, and I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished together,” van den Berg told Canadian Mortgage Trends. “We’ve strengthened the organization, grown our membership and revenue, and achieved meaningful advocacy progress on behalf of our industry.”

Van den Berg joined MPC in September 2022, succeeding Paul Taylor. She began her career in federal politics in Montreal before building her career in association management.

Before joining MPC, she served as executive vice-president of government relations at Restaurants Canada, where she led the association’s government relations and public affairs work through the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Lauren has brought energy, dedication and a strong advocacy focus to MPC,” said Maxime Stencer, chair of MPC’s board of directors. “Her work to build relationships with government stakeholders and represent our members has strengthened MPC’s presence and influence in policy discussions. On behalf of the board, I thank her for her contributions and wish her every success in her next chapter.”

MPC’s board is considering the next steps for the association’s leadership and will share further updates with members as appropriate.

“Our focus is on continuing the work our members count on us to do, from advocacy and education to the events and services that support their businesses,” said Kuljit Singh, MPC’s vice-chair and incoming board chair. “We have an experienced team in place, and the board will support them through this transition as we plan for the association’s next chapter.”
