Dolly Parton’s Darling Former Home in West Hollywood Is Now Available To Rent
Fans of Dolly Parton who have dreamed of following in her footsteps now have a chance to do just that—by renting the country music legend’s former abode in West Hollywood, to the tune of $12,000 a month.
Parton, 80, purchased the two-bedroom, two-bathroom property in 2007 for $1.2 million; however, it is not thought to have ever served as her primary residence, which has, for many years, been located in Tennessee.
She then listed the home for sale for $1.4 million in 2014—although records show that it only changed hands in 2023, when it sold for $1.2 million. It’s unclear whether Parton quietly offloaded the home before its most recent sale.
Built in 1923, the property sprawls across 1,091 square feet and offers guests a “rare opportunity to lease the legendary former home of Dolly Parton,” per the listing, which is held by Richard Schulman of KW Westside Estates.
Situated in the heart of the city’s Design District, the fully furnished home perfectly marries vintage charm with modern finishes while placing residents just steps away from Melrose Avenue, Santa Monica Boulevard, trendy restaurants, boutique shopping, and nightlife.
Upon entering the property, guests are greeted with an open floor plan that shows off the expansive living area and kitchen.
The living room boasts plenty of lounging space as well as a cozy fireplace for guests to enjoy on California‘s chilly evenings.
Moving into the chef’s kitchen, there is wraparound marble counter that matches the patterned backsplash. The cuisine center also boasts state-of-the-art appliances.
“Inside, the open-concept living area is filled with natural light and stylish finishes, flowing into an updated kitchen with stainless steel appliances and designer tile,” the listing notes.
The primary bedroom features enough room for a king bed and a seating area. It also boasts a glamorous walk-in closet, an ensuite bath, and easy access to the lush backyard.
The second bedroom is just as charming thanks to its own private covered balcony.
The property also boasts a humble laundry room, complete with seating areas.
Moving outside, it is the perfect entertaining area thanks to its outdoor kitchen, dining area, patio, and covered deck.
“Outdoor spaces include a tropical-inspired patio and covered deck ideal for dining and entertaining,” the listing, which states that the property is available from Aug. 15, 2026, reads.
The property’s description also calls attention to the home’s ideal proximity to many of Los Angeles’ most interesting communities, stating: “This coveted neighborhood is known for its walkability, creative energy, and long-standing ties to entertainment and cultural history.
“This exceptional home offers privacy, character, and proximity to some of LA’s most celebrated destinations—an ideal retreat for those relocating, renovating, or seeking a refined and historic place to call home.”
The home was previously listed on Airbnb, where its listing noted that it still featured “the original furniture and décor that Dolly personally owned.”
While Parton has been based in Tennessee for years—building an impressive compound in the state where she lived with her late husband, Carl Dean—she once had a very enviable collection of unique dwellings across various locations in California.
In fact, this listing represents the second of Parton’s former homes in the Golden State to hit the market in recent months, following another dwelling in the Danish-inspired town of Solvang, which was listed for sale in June with an asking price of $2 million
Located “in the heart of” the town, the adorable mini compound, which still retains many of the features added by the country music star during her ownership, features three petite properties: a main residence and two rental units.
“This one-of-a-kind property features the country legend’s original, authentic ‘Wig Room,'” the listing for the home, which is being sold by its current owner, Chris Lapp, stated.
A plaque stationed at the front of the dwelling proudly signals its impressive heritage as the “former home of Dolly Parton: singer, actress, and American icon,” while a stained-glass window above the front door of the property’s main residence features the legend’s name, along with a butterfly.
However, one of the more eye-catching details at the front of the property has nothing to do with Parton at all, but rather pays tribute to Solvang’s longstanding ties to Denmark and Europe: a miniature windmill that has been painted to match the home’s distinctive gray, white, and red color palette.
The singer and her husband also previously owned an adorable cabin in Idyllwild, which Parton gifted to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Southern California in November 2023. The charity then sold the home in July 2024.
However, the dwelling returned to the market the following year with an asking price of $768,000 and sold one month later for $800,000, records show.
Parton’s many petite California dwellings pale in comparison to the expansive Tennessee estate where she and her late husband lived for many years, enjoying a sheltered and very private life away from the bright lights of the entertainment industry.
Together, the couple were fiercely protective of their privacy, with Dean, opting to shy away from fame and publicity, even as his wife’s fame skyrocketed, having been by her side since she was a teenager.
In March 2025, the country music mogul revealed in a post shared on her social media accounts that Dean had passed away in Nashville, TN; however, she did not share a cause of death.
“Carl Dean, husband of Dolly Parton, passed away March 3rd in Nashville at the age of 82,” the statement began. “He will be laid to rest in a private ceremony with immediate family attending. He is survived by his siblings Sandra and Donnie.”
The post then included a personal statement from Parton, who said: “Carl and I spent many wonderful years together. Words can’t do justice to the love we shared for over 60 years. Thank you for your prayers and sympathy. The family asks for privacy during this difficult time.”
“Jolene” songstress Parton and her husband maintained a very private life—while the country music sensation became a global phenomenon, her husband, a former asphalt paver, preferred to stay away from the spotlight, holding down the fort at home while she traveled the world.
The couple met on the day that Parton moved to Nashville when she was just 18 years old—bumping into one another outside of the Wishy Washy Laundromat, according to the Associated Press.
Two years later, the couple tied the knot in a heartfelt ceremony in Ringgold, GA, and opted to stay out of the spotlight, tucking away at their ultraprivate Nashville home where they lived throughout the entirety of their marriage.
The couple spent their days in a five-bathroom property that sits on 63 acres and is informally known as Willow Lake Plantation.
