MoonPay Boosts Tokenization Business With North Capital Deal
MoonPay is continuing its acquisition spree by merging with private markets infrastructure platform North Capital.
The acquisition is designed to bring regulated private markets infrastructure directly to MoonPay’s platform, rather than requiring MoonPay to develop it from scratch, the company said in its announcement Wednesday (Sept. 23).
“All financial markets are becoming more technology driven, but the infrastructure supporting them is still fragmented across different tech stacks, providers, and workflows,” said Ivan Soto-Wright, MoonPay’s founder and CEO. “This is especially true in securities markets, where North Capital has developed a differentiated combination of technology, regulatory capabilities, and market infrastructure.”

He added that MoonPay is developing “the regulatory foundation to support mass adoption of tokenized real world assets” and that bringing these capabilities its ecosystem helps link various parts of the financial system “through modern, programmable infrastructure.”
According to MoonPay, North Capital’s platform It supports capital raising, asset management, clearing, custody and secondary trading for exempt securities, including tokenized securities, via investor onboarding tools, transaction processing, subscription escrow and PPEX ATS, the company’s alternative trading system.
The platform has supported $8.7-plus billion in primary and secondary transaction volume, with PPEX listing more than 1,250 approved assets for secondary trading, MoonPay added.
Upon closing, North Capital will become a wholly owned subsidiary of MoonPay, adding its securities brokerage and investment advisory businesses to MoonPay’s platform. This includes North Capital’s broker dealers, alternative trading system, transfer agent and investment adviser, all of which are registered with the SEC.
“Tokenization of real world assets is accelerating, but the systems connecting private markets to onchain rails have remained disconnected,” the announcement added. “Bringing North Capital’s capabilities into MoonPay’s platform is a step toward closing that gap, with programmable infrastructure spanning both sides.”
The deal comes less than two weeks after MoonPay acquired Rhythm, an on-chain trading signals platform, to promote the adoption of online trading. As PYMNTS noted at the time, MoonPay has made several other acquisitions in the last two years:
- Glide, which makes technology that lets apps accept crypto deposits from any token, wallet, exchange or card, in July.
- Entendre, a maker of AI accounting agents for stablecoin firms, in June.
- Dawn Labs, an applied research lab focused on AI and financial markets, and DFlow, a trading infrastructure platform on Solana, both in May.
- Sodot, a management infrastructure company, in April.
- Meso, a payment infrastructure firm, in September 2025.
- Iron, an API-first stablecoin infrastructure platform, in March 2025.
- Helio, a cryptocurrency payment processor, in January 2025.
